Security
Your books are private. We built it that way.
Financial records are some of the most sensitive information a business has. Here is, in plain language, how we look after yours.
How we protect your data
Statements are read on your device
When you upload a statement, your browser reads it. The file is never sent to us, and a statement password is used only to open the file and is never stored.
Each business is walled off by the database
Your records are tagged with your business. Our database refuses to show them to anyone else, even if our application code had a bug.
Records cannot be quietly changed
Ledger entries are append-only. Corrections are new entries, which is how accountants and SARS expect records to work.
Encrypted in transit
Every connection to LedgerMate and to our database uses TLS encryption.
Passwords handled by a specialist
Sign-in is provided by Neon Auth. We never see or store your password in readable form, and you can sign in with Google instead.
Tested on every change
Automated tests run on every change to check that one business can never see or alter another business’s records.
Where your data lives
Your saved records are stored with our database provider, Neon, in Frankfurt, Germany (European Union). The EU’s data protection law (GDPR) gives protection comparable to POPIA. Read more in our privacy policy and POPIA statement.
Found a security problem?
Please report it privately to info@ledgermate.co.za. Do not post it publicly. We will respond as quickly as we can.
